Self Promotion/ Identity Research

Before I started my promotional pack for my design presence, I looked into a few examples of work, I looked at how they had branded their work and the ideas they had come up with from their own name. I also wanted to see things such as letterheads and invoices as I wasn't too confident in what they look like and the content that has to go on them.

"For my surname is Priem, I have chosen the concept Prime and played with the different meanings of the word. My slogan is taken from the meaning of the word prime as an attribute: of best possible quality. (Used prime numbers)"

I like the idea behind Prime and its use of prime numbers 3 5 and 7, I also like the gird and layout of the piece, I think I will be in my own work making a structured layout. 

I like the box package in this piece, I also like the black and white although I do think it looks a little bit too serious and dark. 

I think that the quotes are interesting they are bold and direct.

The three colour colour scheme is more interesting than two, I like the grey and yellow at the minute I think it is quite a popular colour scheme and so I don't want to join in the trend and I wouldn't use this colour scheme even though I think it looks good.

Instead of using a traditional book/publication format this designer has made a poster as his CV, I think that this is different but I think that as a CV it may be too big to store and read easily, I think a traditional A4 CV or a similar size is more suitable.

This self-branding is really striking and it has a strong concept. I like that the persons initials make the symbol Au, which is gold, a precious metal which has led hime to create a black and gold brand which is very sophisticated and prestigious looking, I also like the logo, even though it could be too similar to the actual symbol. I also like that the designer has not just used gold  but has found other visual ways of showing gold for instance the golden ratio. 

I do think that this branding to produce would be extremely expensive, and I think that to do this I would personally outsource so that the printing and the crafting was perfect. As well as this as its on black stock with gold ink it could be more expensive than the standard.

This pack is a lot more softer looking, but it is also quite feminine looking, I think it looks less professional than the work above. But it could be more inviting to open and take a look at, I think it depends on the audience.

Again this self promotion is a similar colour to the one above, however I feel that this piece is more professional, I also like the use of the pattern, and the use of the grey-brown stock gives a more considered appeal.

Even though this opens out into a poster I like the way it opens to reveal different parts of information, I think that this makes the piece more interactive, and the user has to interact with it meaning it is engaging.

I do not particularly like the design of the work below, and some of the crafting seems a little bit off, I like that the work is all packaged into one box and it could be sent off. But at the same time really you can send anything now so it doesn't have to be in a box, it can be any format.

On this pack I like the way the words are trying to be direct to the audience it seems more personal and it confident. But then the colours are black white and grey and I don't know whether this is to be mono-tone but I think that it looks too dark and un-interesting.
