For my logo I firstly began with the initials of my surname, I typed them out in my favourite font (Helvetica) I noticed that the 'A' has a triangle as its counter and I liked the way its almost a window and you can see through it.
I started playing with the A and H trying to get them to work with each other, I wanted the A and the triangle to be the main focus, I felt that is was subtly strong.
I also made the baseline higher on the A so it appeared to be shorter - as I am quite short, I felt that it could be a feature.
I experimented with the triangle more...
I came to this which to me is very strong but simple and effective, its loud without being loud.
And so after this I had to include the H
I tried using a similar method as I had with the A but this meant that the H no longer even nearly represented a H and I also felt that it looked like an american sorority symbol. Or greek alphabet.
In this idea the H looked too small it also almost looks like a stick man with legs and arms and I didn't want this type of symbolism in my work.
I also diverted slightly and thought of the two letter together (like Au branding) and I realised the word ah is...
"An expression of relief, relaxation, comfort, confusion, understanding, wonder, awe, et cetera according to uttered inflection."
it has a good connotation and its like ah we've got it, I thought I could add different sentences onto the end of the word ah, but then I felt that I wasn't comfortable with this and it wasn't really me.
More A and H experimentation...
I thought abut using the slant of the A as one of the stems of the H and this way the two letters joined together. Then it was just a case of spacing.
I came to this that the H need to have one straight for it to be an obvious H and the small gap also leaves a bit of visual space for the eyes to process that the letters are separate.
I did try a different style just to be sure...
I also made the H closer together and made a pen illustration in the middle space, I thought that this was quite interesting but I did prefer the other logo.
