End of Module Evaluation

1.  What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?

I think that I have learnt a lot more about the legal and business side of graphic design, I have also learnt a lot more about studios and their practices, I have applied this knowledge by looking and finding studios that I like, I also feel that I am gaining the confidence and ability to find studios that are relevant to my practice. I think that when it comes to legal concerns I have learnt about copyright and over the summer I will apply this knowledge when I set up my own Behance presence. And the business side I have applied what I have learnt to our group presentation and learnt what to consider when working out the costing’s.

2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?

I think in this module I have learnt more about identity and branding, I have also learnt a lot more about presenting, and presenting my self, I think I have learnt a lot more about the structure of presentations and the content on them. I have also learnt about the structure and content of business stationary such as letterheads and invoices, I have developed my structure of them and the design of them.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?

I think that I have developed a strong identity for my self in the form of my pack; I like the design choices I have made and I think that it is the foundation of a good identity. I will capitalise on this by continuing to use the foundations to create a really good identity.
I also think that I have learnt that I am quite good at getting a group of people to work together and bringing everything together, I also know that I am quite good at setting tasks and delegating. I also know that I stick to deadlines especially in groups when people are depending on you and I think that this is a really good skill to have.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future?

I think that when it comes to presenting and making presentations, I need to be a lot more through and really think about what needs to be included, I also need to rehearse, and I think that this will make my presentations more well-rounded and I will be more confident, and less nervous.
I also think that another weakness of mine is that I haven’t got an actual point of professional contact, to address this over the summer I will be creating myself a new email account and a behance profile, I also plan to join linked-in and I think that this will address the fact that I haven’t really started to push my self into the industry. I also know that my reluctance to do this is out of shyness and worrying about being knocked back, but now I feel that when I have taken the steps I have suggested I will be ready to start contacting people and getting my work noticed.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?

1. I will have an actual point of contact and I will begin to make connections and network from doing this I hope to gain client work, and placements in studios, I also hope to be noticed.
2. I will really look into what needs to go on a creative invoice and letterhead so I have a realistic design that is actually useable.
3. I will spend more time on my self-promotion and I will have it printed and crafter properly so that I can actually use what I produce.
4. I will address aspects of business and finance that I do not understand fully understand by looking over what we have been taught, and by doing my own research and asking people that do know to teach me, I hope that this will help me in the future and give me a better understanding.
5. Next time I will also blog little things about my practice as I go along such as studios and things that are relevant to me professionally and my practice, I hope that this will help me to review my practice better and see where I want to go.

A Design Presence: Final Pack

My final pack, including:

A business card
A mini portfolio/ examples of work
A creative cv
A letter head
An invoice

And the folder it all goes into.

All the materials are printed onto antique white, and the colour scheme is black, green and the stock colour (almost white).

I am happy with the overall look of my pack, I think that it suits me and practice relatively well, I do think from seeing the work of others that more could of gone into this pack, but I also feel that next time I do this I will spend more time and have more time to do it. I will also have actual contact details and hopefully, more such as a behance, as well as this I will have my work properly photographed.
