Speaking from Experience Final Crit

For the final crit I brought along some examples of work.

These where my belly band ideas, I printed them onto trace however I knew myself that the stock wasn't right and I wanted to print onto layout paper. But the members of my crit liked the designs and the simplicity of them.

I then showed the group my poster, which I had accidentally printed onto tracing paper, which meant the colours had run, and so the group told me to print it onto a normal matte stock which I had already thought about. The group where also in two minds as to whether I should incorporate my accidental registration and colour marks to my final poster. However I felt that it wouldn't be continuous with the rest of the pack.

My ID card was next, the group liked the designs but felt the copy on the back was too small and unreadable. And so i needed to change this, they suggested either changing
  • the font
  • the point size
  • the colour
  • the leading

I also showed them my flash cards and the group suggested I should but more of a space between the numbers and I should remove a full stop I had left on one of the sentences.

The crit group also suggested I should experiment with a hole for the keyholes, or I should try something more 3D as if you where looking through.

I felt the feedback was helpful and I made most of the changes they had mentioned, which improved my designs.
I wish I had more final work to show the group and next time I need to try begin a brief like this more quickly, I had found it difficult to begin with as I had not liked the topic, and we had had other substantial briefs to do at the same time. However I should of really allocated more time to this brief previous to this final crit.
