If you where a .... ?

If you where a book what would your subject be and who would read you ?

I would say that I don't think I would be a book, I am more of a magazine/journal, quicker information, that is current. Also a magazine can be a lot more visual. I would say I would probably prefer to be a fashion magazine like Elle, Vogue. Women would probably read me , fashion conscious. But I would say I like a lot of different publications as long as they have content I find interesting/ current. As well as this I would like to be like a design journal such as computer arts, creative review as they are industry aware and specific. Designers would read me. 

If you where a package what would you contain and who would open it ? 

I think if I could be any type of package I would be a tiffanys package. It's classic, sophisticated, glamorous and a part of the world of fashion. I would be simple and modern, with clean minimal colours. Made from quality, relatively expensive material, and care/ passion taken in assembly- as I care and I am passionate about what I do. I would be opened by women from their late teens onwards, I think that this is one of my favourite target markets. They would also be fashion conscious, and like the glamour of the product.

If you where  a shop what would you sell and who would buy it ? 

If I was a shop I would like to be a slightly more upmarket store such as Selfridges, House of Fraser or even Harvey Nichols. They have a huge variety of products, such as clothing, furniture, home decor, technology, interesting food courts and modern graphics. They are more quality but still accessible and have a lot to offer.

If you where a poster what would you promote and to whom ? 

If I was a poster I would probably be a night club poster or flier, this is simply because I enjoy to going out to clubs. I like the music the atmosphere and a lot of the time the interiors and look of the club. I like the posters that are mainly typographic, as this is an area of design I like. I also like the way some posters convey the atmosphere and the whole nightlife vibe. 

If you where a brand what would your values be and why would they be important ? 

I would like to be slightly like Innocent smoothies as a brand, in the way that they give back some of thier profit to charity and support charities, I think that this is a good value to have. I would also like to be like Apple and have the value of creativity and inspiring it at heart.

If you where an exhibition what would you show and where would you show it ?

If I could be an exhibition, I would show a range of editorial work, branding/ identity work, both print based and screen based, on large macs, in a big room. I am not too sure where but it would have to be in a art gallery, or somewhere large enough.

If you where a leaflet what information would you show and where would you show it ? 

I would probably contain information about branding and identity work, or fashion editorial work. But I would also like to show work for good causes i.e. charity. I would probably appeal to other designers interested in these ideas, but some of my content could inspire any designer, and the charity may even appeal to a broader audience.

If you where a sign what would you show and to whom and where ? 

If I was a sign I would probably like to be one in London, possibly pointing to where my dream house in the city would be, or a dream design job/studio. But I would also be a sign for other major cities around the world as I would at least like to visit them, especially Paris and Los Angeles. 

If you where an App what would you show, to whom and where ? 

If I was an app I think I would be a mixture of Pintrest and Instagram, as they are both very visual, inspiring and interesting. I would have boards like pinterest where you can collect certain groups of images which is an organised and easy way to keep imagery of the sam subject together. I would also like people to share their own photographs as well and hashtag to see who else is doing what you are doing. This would be on a mobile, available to everyone at most times. Probably an audience similar to my own age or slightly older, modern and fresh.

If you where a blog, what would you be about and who would follow you ? 

I would most likely be a design blog like creative review, I would post work that I find inspirational and I would have the links to the website, designer or studio it had come from. I would hope to gain designer followers that would have the same interests in design as me , and then I would like to involve them by letting them post too.

If you where an event, what would it be and how would you promote it ?  

I would probably be the launch of a new fashion magazine, and a new title, or I would also like to launch my own charity that I had designed entirely, (identity, promotional, product etc.) Even though I would collaborate with a good friend or someone who was very similar to myself. And I would promote both through print based media and screen based.

Personality vs Practice Session

We where split into pairs and then we had to swap our images with another pair and then analyse what we thought from the images of their personality and their practice 

Charlie 

Personality

From the images on the right we thought that she.... 

Was close to her pet cat, liked rock music and perhaps played the guitar, has a strong interest in reading and literature. We also felt she may be proud of her achievements and getting into university. The jumper suggests she likes america or could have connections to america, we also knew she likes pattern and bright colours.

Practice

On the left hand side where the design images and we thought.... 

That she perhaps liked branding and identity, she likes to work digitally with simple illustrations and light/bright colours. She perhaps likes vector illustrations and maybe likes to work with type too.

Caitlin

Personality 
We felt that  from the imagery Caitlin had strong family connections. She also is a very athletic person who likes to keep fit . We also know she has a strong connection to the middle east, and we know from her she is very connected to turkey, and has lived there for 2 years before. We also felt she liked being abroad and swimming. And she also likes to make sandwich and drinking tea.


Practice
She clearly likes playful, inventive solutions to a problem. We also feel that she likes the use of photography. She also likes strong, vivid colours. And she may also like info graphics. 

  

Personality vs Practice

Five statements about me as an individual

1. I would say that I prefer to live in/ or nearby a big city, as there seems to be a lot more things to do, places to be e.c.t , even though I like more rural areas I wouldn't want to live away from everything- however I would say I would like to experience more cities in England and I should start to do this.

2. I would say that I am a very understanding person and I am open to other peoples interests and opinions, I also like to hear about new things and even if I don't agree with someones choice I would say I don't judge them.

3. I really like reality tv shows, and things about celebrities in magazines, I think that some of the parts of their lifestyles are aspirational and a completely different way of living, and this is could be what interests me, but I would also say the drama- even though its mostly faked, entertains me.

4. I would also say I am influenced heavily by fashion and beauty, I think that this probably reflects in some of my design tastes as well.

5. Having people around me that have gone through much larger things in life has made me put myself into perspective and has made me learn to try to enjoy every day, I would say as well as this more recently i feel that you should surround yourself with people that make you happy and you should do things that make you happy. I feel like in the past I have been very serious and worried too much. 

Five statements about myself as a practitioner

1. I really seem to be drawn to work that have print finishes such as foiling, embossing/debossing. I have tried this in one piece of work I have done I would like to try this more but it is quite limited.

2. I would say that I am still really interested in branding and identity, I would also say I prefer work that is quite minimal, typographic, photographic, modern, sophisticated and slightly fashion editorial like.

3. I would say that I am really behind with being able to create a website, I can't wait to be taught how to do this because I like a lot of work that is on screen, i feel that most of the time it looks better than when its printed, but also it would be extremely helpful and useful.

5. I would say I also seem to like design that has an element of laser cut. I think that it can create some very simple but effective designs.
