How To ... Self Evaluation

Self Evaluation of the How To Brief

What role(s) did you take on in the group ?
I developed/designed the four main option screens for the app. These had the categories of Travel, Food, University and Nights Out or Events. I sourced the information, tips on money saving and links to helpful sites for all four options. I also chose the type for the whole app.

How well do you think you performed in the role(s) ?
I think I chose a type that kept in line with the tone of the app, and was suitable to the target audience. The options screens I developed where thorough and fit in well with the rest of the app, although some of the information i.e. links weren't good enough or researched enough.

How well do you think you worked as a group ?
As a group I think we where okay, I dont think we where as organised as we should of been and I felt that some people didn't voice thier opinions enough. Aswell as this I think some of the time people where uncertain on what they where doing and we where quite indecissive to begin with.

What where the posotives of working in a group ?
There are alot more ideas and some you'd never think of yourself. You can learn other skills from members of your group and use them for yourself. People have different skills so it can help you to create something more diverse and people can be assigned to different roles so everyone can use thier strengths. Aswell as this members of the group can point out mistakes or considerations you'd forgotten about or never thought about.

What were the negatives of working in a group?
As we are all new we don't really know each others strengths and weaknesses so we just assumed roles. You don't necessarily follow your own design style or design something you shows your best work. A group can be hard to organise. Some people where assigned more work than others.

What will you do differently next time ?
Try to be more organised, make decisions quicker and try to incorporate my own design style/intentions.

Where could you have improved your resolutions ?
We should of made buisness cards for the presentation , and we should of done more research and development. We also all felt that our How To ..., was slightly boring and we werent as inspired as what we might of been.

What were the strengths of your presentation ?
Our visuals were all final and clear, we had clearly met the considerations of the brief. We where to the point and unconfusing.

Identify and explain 5 things that inspire you.
  1. Interior Design: I have always been inspired by interior design, I have always liked the thought of  modern, spacious, simplistic rooms. I have watched many shows about the subject and I always liked designing rooms on computer games. I always preferred that aspect rather than the actual game.
  2. Success: I have always been afraid of failing and I feel I am motivated by this fact. I have always aspired to a life I want, I don't want to have to compromise and this is in all aspects.
  3. Family: Me and my family are very close and I grew up with my family around me all the time. My mum and dad are extremely supportive and they have always done everything they can for me. My childhood as I remember was with my sister and my two cousins, we would do everything together and go out to places around Leeds all the time such as Harewood House e.c.t and this has educated me in all different ways.
  4. Meaningful Thoughts/Deeper Discussions: I would say I am very inquisitive, and I always have been. I have always asked why and questioned peoples thoughts and feelings, their psychology and my own. I feel that morals and beliefs are who we are and I like to uncover this.
  5. Drawing: Another thing I have always done is drawn, I used to spend hours drawing and I felt like I would get lost in my work and I'd become totally focused on what i was doing and nothing else mattered.
